My husband is honest with me – for better or worse.  Sometimes he is honest with me when I would prefer that he lie a bit. For example:

All in all, I prefer his honesty.  I can rely upon it and I trust him.

#349: Movie Mondays – 3:10 to Yuma May 14, 2012

Year: 2007

Genre: Action/Crime/Drama

Description from http://www.IMDb.com: A small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who’s awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher.

Wife: I really liked this movie.  I am not a big fan of Westerns, but I do like good movies. I liked both this and the remake of True Grit.  It’s funny that this movie was not categorized as a Western.  I loved the portrayal of father and son and the theme of good and bad men. It drew me in.  I’ve seen it twice now.  It is such a classic.  I have not seen the original but want to.  Plus, it’s got a great title!

Husband: i liked the movie.  It had  great storyline.  The characters were believable. [OK, my husband said this and I said, “Walter, you say this about every movie.  It’s like you don’t care.”  To which he responded, “Hmmm, you’re catching on.”  Luckily, we only have 2 more movie reviews.  Sorry Walter.]

#348: How he proposed May 13, 2012

The day was August 8, 2006.  We had met 5 months earlier on St. Patrick’s Day.  He picked me up from the Van Ness subway stop.  He did that every day.  That afternoon he had asked my mother for permission to propose to me. I saw him in the car and walked over. He got out of the car and came around to the passenger side as if to open the door for me.  He got down on one knee and had the ring in its box.  He said, “Will you marry me?” I said, “Yes.”  Then I said, “Are you going to be able to get up?”  🙂

#347: Dark Chocolate May 12, 2012

I love dark chocolate for two reasons:

  1. it’s delicious, complex, a little bitter, and not too sweet
  2. my husband doesn’t like it

No matter how long I leave it hanging around, I know he won’t eat it.  🙂

“You have a habit of talking over the entire newscast with your own newscast,” said my husband.

“You make comments during the news too,” I said.

“My comments are short and comical,” he said.

“What is comical is subjective,” I reminded him.

“Besides you talk the whole time.  It’s like ‘The evening news with Karyl Terese.'” 🙂

Driving Cars in a Traffic Jam

I get so excited sometimes when I am sharing new facts I’ve learned or sharing something new with another person.  Recently, I was telling my husband some such set of facts.  I thought they were interesting.  I’m sure he was driving and trying to pay attention on the road.  I was having what he calls a passenger party over in the passenger seat.  Because I can go long stretches without hearing a peep from him I wanted to check in.

I turned to my husband and said, “Isn’t that interesting?”

He said, “Yes, Karyl, that’s interesting.  Tell me more.” 🙂

Square dancing

The other day husband was sitting on couch watching War of the Worlds (original with Gene Barry).  I came in and there was a square dancing scene on.  I asked my husband if he liked square dancing pretty sure I’d know how he’d answer.  He started shouting square dance calls:

Now couples 1 and 3

go into the middle and back with me

Now couples 2 and 4

go into the middle and do-si–do

The first person that you see

Now couples 2 and 4

go into the middle and back once more

I was thrilled!  I am amazed at all the gems tucked away in my husband’s mind.  I love square dancing!  It brings back memories of  the Father-Daughter square dance in Brownies.   Square dancing is good, clean fun and my husband is a good egg.
