My husband is not a morning person.  Understatement.  I am.  One morning as we were walking to the car to go to work, I started looking around in the yard.

“How many of these little bushes did we get from the nursery?” I said.

“Three,” he said.

“But isn’t that one too?” I said.

“I don’t know,” he said.

“That’s a mum.  I’ll have to cut that back,” I said.

Then I looked at the side yard.

“Look.  Grass is starting to come up.  Or maybe that’s moss.  Do you think that’s moss?” I said.

“I don’t know.  It’s too early for a botanical quiz.” He said.

That husband.  🙂

#302: Spring in our yard March 28, 2012

It’s time to start working on the yard again.  I picked leaves that had gotten caught in the bushes out of the shrubs.  I still have more to do.  I don’t like that job.  My favorite is planting flowers.  My hydrangea that we planted last summer is on its way back!  I love Spring!  Renewal, birth, and the resurrection of our Lord!

We did some gardening this weekend.  There is a local nursery near the house that we had been wanting to try.  Home Depot is great but sometimes you want a small nursery where you can get some attention.  One of the owners really took her time with us.  We explained that we were beginners and were looking for perennials for a sunny area.  She showed us some small crepe myrtles and some spider plant looking grasses.  Walter spent hours digging and it looks really pretty.  Sorry I don’t have a picture to share.  It’s really fun beautifying things.  He did a great job.  And oh yeah, I have a hydrangea.  I just love those things.  I call them old lady flowers.  🙂
