I Love This Husband & Wife Stuff

365 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT BEING MARRIED!

About August 5, 2010

Hi!  I’m the wife.  My husband came up with the title I Love This Husband & Wife Stuff – he’s always saying that.  I live with my husband Walter, our 22-year-old son and two cats.  I am 40 something and Catholic.  In this space, I write vignettes about the joys of being married as a tribute to my husband and to the sacrament of marriage.  I hope you are inspired and have fun reading it!

At first I thought it would be hard to come up with 365 meaningful things.  I soon realized that there are endless things to be thankful for.  Big things and little.  Funny and serious.  Marriage is so many yummy things: security, comfort, coziness, affection, passion, food, love, companionship, humor, adventure, service, and faith.  I hope this blog makes feel good, laugh, and walk away with a warm feeling in your heart whether you are married or not.

I wrote a book based on this blog called I Love This Husband & Wife Stuff.  I also wrote a book called How to Find A Husband Following God’s Will.  Although I have finished this blog, I also have a blog Artsy Wanderer.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read about me.  🙂

  1. Hi there!

You had emailed me about the reason I subscribed to your blog and it’s really quite simple: you can think of waaaaaayyy more positive things more frequently about your marriage and what you appreciate/enjoy in it. Some people tend to blog about things that bother them (like moi) rather than things that’s more upbeat/positive. Although the latter isn’t my style (I need a GF to vent to — else the blog will do), your blog has that certain flair. When I need a reminder or a pick-me-up, I know that I can take a peek here. 🙂

Thank you so much for replying! The main reason I am so upbeat and positive is because I originally set out to write a blog that was positive about marriage. I value marriage as a sacrament and it’s my own personal goal to support marriage wherever and however I can. I think it is good for our world. The best way for me to do that personally was to share what I love about being married. I’m glad that you enjoy it! Please “stop by” whenever you like! It’s people like you that inspire me to write and make me think what I write is important. Thanks again!

Thank you for such a potent book. I just sat down, opened it and could not put it down until I completed reading it (one evening). It is very inspirational especially for someone like myself who has been through a lot of heartache and hardship doing things my way and not God’s way, ruining my body, mind and spirit by using sex as a way to obtain love and acceptance. I learned the hard way and I’m so happy people like yourself are determined to help others make it and live right. I had some difficulty getting through the chapter “God’s plan for marriage”. The Pope’s repetitive use of the word “subordinate” was a bit confusing to me. Even after looking the word up in the dictionary, the synonyms didn’t flow with the sentence. For example, he states “love is where two people consciously choose a common good to which both subordinate themselves”. Does this mean each person does for one another and becomes each other’s subordinate? Then he states, “enjoyment of another must always be subordinate to love”. So, the use of the word subordinate in this sentence may mean “connected to”? In another sentence, he states “the human body must humble itself, subordinate itself in the face of love”. I’m going to assume he means “bring under control” in the face of love. But then he continues on to say, “in the absence of chastity the body is not subordinated to love”….which takes me back to the meaning “connected to”. I hope you can clear this up for me because I spent a lot of time going through this chapter, highlighting and making notes. Again, thank you so much for this wonderful blessing you’ve provided through your words.

I think the idea for this blog is sheer brilliance. 🙂 It’s a great way to chronicle all those little tidbits in marriage that are so rich but are often forgotten — just like here, those very brief conversations in the most mundane situations that make a good partnership. Keep posting your hilarious convos, please.

  10. Thanks for the follow Karyl! I am not married, but I love love and live vicariously through those who have found a mate and share their happiness with others. I too am a gal from Maryland, so we could be neighbors! I was born at Walter Reed but grew up in Silver Spring. : )
