My husband looks at me as if I were the most important person on the planet. I can see in his eyes how special I am to him. He makes me feel precious.
#99: Walter and the Lawn 3 June 29, 2011
You know someone is really working the lawn when the water bill is more than the electric bill – in the middle of the summer! I love my husband and his dedication to the lawn but I’d rather have a browner lawn and a greener wallet. 🙂
We just went to visit my brother and his family in Denver. It was an enjoyable trip. Although family vacations bring a bit of drama with them, they are always worth it. There is no substitute for spending time with our families. We did way too much and it was fun, fun, fun. Here are a few of my highlights: Go carts, church, delis, sightseeing, taking pictures, the dog park, laughing, cooking, baking, grilling, playing video games, watching movies. And the romantic husband wife thing we did was coffee at a coffee house called Paradise in Boulder. Lovely times!
#97: No matter how bad my day is, all I have to do is hang on long enough to get a hug from him June 21, 2011
Did you ever have one of those days? You miss your train. You step in gum. You lose your wallet. Someone at work makes you very angry. We all have those days. When I have a bad day, I know that all I have to do is hop on the train, go home, and run into his arms. He gives the very best hugs.
#96: I always have a safe place June 20, 2011
My husband is someone I can go home to. Like a beacon of light in the darkness. He represents safety, security, and love.
#95: Sausage crumble June 17, 2011
The other day my husband was making scrambled eggs. He tossed in some crumbled sausage. I asked him where he got it and he said it was leftover. I said, “From another day?” He said, “No, from another family.” He always makes me laugh. 🙂
#94: He calls me just to say hello June 16, 2011
He calls me at work just to say hello. How sweet!
I hate to keep harping on the grass but it is such a perfect vehicle for illustration. He laid down seed and then covered it with potting soil. I personally thought it was too much potting soil. For about 5 days nothing was coming up and I feared that it was too much soil and the shoots would never get out. I started to say something to him – my need to be right. But I held back. This was his thing. He was working so hard on it. I didn’t really know for sure. So why not just shut up? So I did shut up and voila, the spikes started appearing and I realized that he did know what he was doing.
Sometimes you just gotta believe. And many times you just need to shut up!
#92: I am never alone – even when we are not together June 14, 2011
Being married means that you are never really alone. I may be away from him when I’m at work during the day. Or separated for a few days due to a business trip. But I am never truly alone. I know that he is there out in the world some where, my husband. Someone who is my better half, my other half, another part of me.
#91: Walter and the Lawn 3 – Love, Marriage and the Lawn June 13, 2011
Little blades of grass are spiking up. He waters the lawn twice a day, lovingly. The yard and I feel so loved.
