365 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT BEING MARRIED!

#268: The Average Person February 21, 2012

The weekend before last we took a 5 hour car trip.  About halfway through, I burst out with what I thought was some thrilling information.

“The best and healthiest car trip foods are fruit and nuts,” I said.

“Thank you, Karyl,” my husband said.

“You are so obnoxious,” I said.

“I’m obnoxious?” he said.

“The average person might think you are polite, but I know better,” I said.

“The average person might think you are interesting, but I know better,” he said.

Fair enough.  Fair enough.  :)

#267: Movie Mondays – The Help February 20, 2012

Year: 2011

Genre: Drama

Description (from IMDb): An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maid’s point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis.

Wife: This is definitely a chick flick.  I was surprised that my husband offered to watch it with me.  I didn’t even ask him to; he volunteered.  I had read the book.  I even discussed it in my book club.  I enjoyed the book and was excited about seeing what they did with it in the movie.  I liked the movie and thought the story translated well on the big screen.  It had the right spirit.  I recommend you read the book.  Then see the movie.  Love, love, love the quote: “You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”

Husband: The history was definitely a lure.  The emotions the movie evoked were genuine.  The movie kept me welded to the screen.  The actors were believable and I developed a sincere dislike for several of the characters.

I came across this quote, and it could t be more true… I don’t have much more to say about this, just wanted to remind myself that I have been forgiven of much, so I must forgive!!! And forgiving means forgetting and not bringing it back up the next time I’m angry and saying things I shouldn’t! If it’s not positive, it doesn’t need to come out of my mouth…. And let it go! It’s so worth it! 20120216-200932.jpg

#265: I didn’t start out a good wife February 10, 2012

I have a confession to make.  I didn’t start out being a good wife.  I am learning to be one.  I am a “good-wife-in-training”, so to speak.  Being a good wife is a process.  With God’s help and care I am on the road.  Here are a few of the things it takes to be a good wife (in no particular order):

  • love
  • humility
  • prayer
  • submission to God
  • submission to your husband
  • humor
  • hard work
  • perseverance
  • faith
  • hope
  • commitment
  • forgiveness
  • learning
  • patience

You can work to become a good wife too!  Just stay on the path and follow the light.  :)

#264: The Wife of Noble Character February 9, 2012

The wife of noble character that we find in Proverbs 31 has the following qualities:

  • She has unusual character
  • She is completely trustworthy
  • She is hard-working
  • She is wise
  • She is generous
  • She instructs faithfully
  • She is godly

When I think of a wife of noble character and the ideal wife, I think of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  She was giving, kind and loving.  She was reserved and pleasant.  She was peaceful and calm.  She was humble yet confident.  Most importantly she was godly and turned herself and her life over to God’s will with willingness and acceptance.  This is the kind of woman I strive to be and I ask Our Lady to pray for me to the Lord our God that I am a godly wife and mother.
